FRANKFURT, 12 October 2026 — The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt launched Luntian Leseraum, a year-round showcase of Philippine titles and other publications extending the momentum created by the Philippines’ Guest of Honour participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair (FBM) in 2025.
Housed at the Consulate, Luntian Leseraum provides a platform for publishers, literary agents, and other publishing industry professionals to discover Philippine works with potential for international publication, translation, and rights acquisition.
Consul General Marie Yvette Banzon Abalos remarked that the Luntian Leseraum reflects the Consulate’s commitment to support the internationalization of Filipino books through sustained engagement with Germany.
National Book Development Board Executive Director Charisse Aquino-Tugade underscored the importance of collaboration in bringing Filipino literary works to international audiences and creating opportunities for authors and publishers to explore new markets.
The launch also featured a poetry reading by Atty. Andrea Pasion-Flores, President of the Book Development Association of the Philippines, followed by a musical performance by Filipino-German musician ffm.joe, celebrating the creativity and cultural contributions of the Filipino community in Germany.
Through Luntian Leseraum, the Consulate seeks to build on the momentum of FBM 2025 by establishing a lasting platform for the discovery of Philippine literature, fostering international literary exchange, and opening further opportunities for Filipino authors and publishers to reach readers and publishing markets abroad.END
