Happy ASEAN Day! The Association of Southeast Asian Nations was formally established on 08 August 1967
The focal agencies for culture of the ASEAN-COCI (Committee on Culture and Information), of which the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Cultural Center of the Philippines are part, teamed up to present this project to celebrate the ASEAN Month and 2020 Year of ASEAN Identity, “Break the Chain: The Arts Respond to COVID-19, An Awareness Campaign”. It is a compilation of video performances of traditional, folk, and classical dances from the ASEAN Member States which were especially choreographed to promote the practice of health and safety protocols like hand washing, wearing of face masks, and social distancing
This campaign was conceived to serve as a cultural component for the Philippines ASEAN-COCI’s ASEAN Month offering, Sama-Sama ASEAN: We Are One (Webinar Series on ASEAN Awareness and Identity) to raise awareness about the ASEAN community-building efforts, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The webinar series streams every Thursday of August via the official Facebook accounts of DFA, PCOO, PIA, PTV, NCCA, and CCP.
