Airlines and immigration authorities require at least 6 months’ validity.
The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt recommends that:

You apply for a new passport about 9 months before your passport’s expiration date.

You should not purchase outbound travel tickets until your new passport is in your possession.

It is required that applicants make an appointment at the Consulate. Appointment is per person.
Passport applications are entertained at the Philippine Consulate during its business hours on its day of operation. Please be sure to check Philippine or German holidays in our webpage or Facebook page weeks before when scheduling your visit to the Consulate.
Filipinos residing in Germany can apply to the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt, or during our consular mobile outreach missions.
In case of lost passport, please report the loss immediately to the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt. Please send us an email to frankfurtpcg.consular@dfa.gov.ph.
Your new passport may be available in four (4) to six (6) weeks from the date the passport fee has been paid. The Consulate is not liable if a new passport’s availability is delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
Applicants are required to provide a pre-paid envelope with Euro 4.25 stamps from Deutsche Post (Einschreiben) or from a private courier service (e.g. DHL).
Passports left unclaimed after one (1) year will be cancelled per DFA Department Order No. 2021-012.
NOTE: There have been cases of passports getting lost in the regular postal system. The Consulate assumes no liability for any loss of documents once they have been handed over to the German Post Office/courier service.

CAN I APPLY FOR A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT AT OTHER CITIES IN GERMANY?
You can apply for a passport at the Philippine Embassy in Berlin or the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt. Another option would be to avail of the mobile outreach services. You can renew your passports in these places on these special days.
CAN I APPLY FOR A PASSPORT IN BRUSSELS OR THE HAGUE?
Yes, if you live in Germany near the border to Belgium or to The Netherlands. Please just contact the Philippine Embassies at Brussels or The Hague. If you live near Switzerland or Austria, you can apply for a passport at the Philippines Embassies in Berne or Vienna.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THE EMBASSY / CONSULATE IS OPEN DURING HOLIDAY SEASONS LIKE EASTER?
The Embassy / Consulate observe certain German and Philippine Holidays. Please refer to their websites for the list of holidays observed.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE, AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This will depend on the volume of applicants on the day and time you come. On the average, it takes about 20 minutes to apply for a passport, and costs € 60.00.
WHY DO I NEED TO GO TO BERLIN / FRANKFURT? CAN I NOT JUST MAIL IT AS BEFORE?
No, personal appearance is now required to capture the biometrics of each applicant’s research as, the face (photographs), the thumbprints and the signature.
WHEN DO I GET MY NEW PASSPORT?
After biometric data capture in Berlin / Frankfurt, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for the new passport to reach Berlin / Frankfurt. The passports are all centrally printed in Manila. However, it is best to regularly check the Philippine Embassy / Consulate General website for announcements on possible delays.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MY OLD PASSPORT?
It will take about 4 to 6 weeks. When your new passport arrives in Berlin / Frankfurt, you bring your old passport to us for cancellation. We will then cancel your old passport, and return it to you with your new passport.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO RENEW MY PASSPORT?
It’s about 9 months before it expires.
IS THERE A FINE IF THE PASSPORT TO BE RENEWED IS ALREADY EXPIRED?
No, there is no additional fine for renewing expired passports.
MY FILIPINO WIFE AND I JUST GOT MARRIED. WE WANT HER PASSPORT TO BE AMENDED THAT THAT SHE WANTS CARRY MY FAMILY NAME. WHAT DOES SHE NEED TO DO?
Your wife must first report her marriage. Click this link for the form and information on Report of Marriage (ROM). After the Report of Marriage is filed with the Embassy / Consulate. The ROM can also be filed at any of the Philippine Honorary Consulates in Germany, whichever has jurisdiction over the place where you got married. But you can apply for a passport only in Berlin or Frankfurt.
MY DAUGHTER / SON IS HALF FILIPINO AND HALF GERMAN. IS SHE ENTITLED TO A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT?
Yes, if at the time of her birth your wife is still a Filipino citizen. Your daughter’s (or son’s) birth needs to be reported to Manila. Click this link for the form and information on Report of Birth (ROB). However, if you have a child, Philippine passport.
CAN WE REPORT OUR DAUGHTER’S BIRTH AND APPLY FOR A PASSPORT AT THE SAME TIME?
Yes, it is more efficient that way, to combine the ROB and passport application, or combine the report of marriage with passport renewal as long as all the required documents are complete. You only come once to the Embassy in Berlin or the Consulate General in Frankfurt to accomplish two things.
I LIVE NEAR MUNICH, CAN I REPORT MY CHILD’S BIRTH THERE?
Yes, you can report your child’s birth at the Honorary Consulates in Munich and Stuttgart whichever Consulate has consular jurisdiction over the place of birth. But after reporting the birth, you can apply for a Philippine passport for your child in Berlin or Frankfurt only.
