Cultural Communities Week 2020

July 6, 2020

The second week of July is observed as Cultural Communities Week by virtue of Proclamation No. 250, s. 1988. The observance aims to promote the importance of indigenous tribal Filipinos to national unity and development and the need to preserve their rich cultural heritage, not only for the Philippines but also for the world.
In line with the observance of the Cultural Communities Week, the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt will show a three-part video series of the School of Living Traditions produced by the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts. The video series aims to provide a venue where a culture specialist/master, who embodies the skills and techniques of a particular traditional art form, imparts to a group of interested youth the skills and techniques of such form.
The video series will feature the three main cultural communities of the Philippines, namely, the Northern Cultural Communities, Central Cultural Communities and the Southern Cultural Communities.
Let us enhance our appreciation and develop an understanding of Filipino cultural communities.
