In a move towards the continuation of their productive collaboration through the Philippine Studies Program, Consul General Marie Yvette L. Banzon Abalos and Prof. Dr. Roger Friedlein of Ruhr University in Bochum (RUB) have today signed the Third Extension of the Donation Agreement on 6 November at the Consulate.
The Donation Agreement, which was first signed in October 2019 under the sponsorship of the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, is aimed at fostering mutual understanding and academic/cultural exchange and enhancing people-to-people relations between the Philippines and Germany.
As part of this initiative, the Consulate donated several books to the RUB’s library, enriching its resources with valuable Philippine literature and academic works. Moreover, a series of engaging activities, ranging from Philippine historical/cultural workshops to academic exchange/seminars and book publications, are meticulously being planned by RUB to lead up to the Philippines’ Guest of Honor status at the Frankfurt Buchmesse 2025.
