PH Consulate General in Frankfurt Sends off 223 Filipino Seafarers During Repatriation from Germany

April 9, 2020

Filipino seafarers from MV Amadea and MV Amera line up at the check-in counters of Frankfurt Airport for their chartered flight to Manila on April 7.

07 April – The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt sent off a total of two hundred twenty-three Filipino seafarers during their repatriation to Manila from Frankfurt, Germany last April 7.

The big group of seafarers was composed of 84 crew belonging to the hotel department of MV Amadea and 139 crew from the hotel and marine departments of MV Amera. Both cruise ships are owned and operated by the German travel company Phoenix Reisen, based in Bonn, Germany.

The repatriation of thousands of Filipino seafarers in Europe is expected to continue due to the suspension of ship and cruise operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Philippine Foreign Service Posts and the POLO in Germany are ready to provide assistance to returning land and sea-based workers. – END
