PHILIPPINE STORIES ILLUMINATE THE STAGE AT THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF GUEST OF HONOUR PROGRAM AT FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR 2025

June 26, 2025

Frankfurt, 26 June 2025 – The Philippines officially launched its program for its year as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 during a press conference held today at the Evangelische Akademie Frankfurt. With over 77 literary events featuring 100 authors and 50 artists across exhibitions, performances, and film screenings, the Philippines is set to present a yearlong celebration of Filipino creativity, identity, and storytelling.

The program featured rich cultural and literary presentations and insights from key figures including Frankfurter Buchmesse President and CEO Juergen Boos, Senator Loren Legarda, and curators Karina Bolasco and Patrick Flores. Highlights included a stirring performance by the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers, the unveiling of the literary and cultural programs, and a first look at the country’s pavilion design. The event concluded with a lively conversation between Filipino authors Blaise Campo Gacoscos and Candy Gourlay, moderated by translator and author Annette Hug, offering a compelling preview of the Philippines’ storytelling spirit on the global stage.
