The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt joined the Filipino Mission of the Archdiocese of Cologne headed by Faher Rodel Liguid during the traditional Flores de Mayo/Santacruzan parade. It was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass which gave reverence to ube as a valuable Philippine root crop.

The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt collaborated with KUNST Filipino Artists to stage an art exhibition entitled “Art of Ube,” featuring 17 artworks depicting ube in various themes and settings such cultivating, harvesting and cooking of ube, ube as part of the FIlipino fiesta tradition and abstract/still art with ube as the subject.

 

‘Ube power home bakers’ composed of Filipino-German homemakers, entrepreneurs, healthcare , and I.T. professionals, were proud to share a variety of their classic ube heirloom recipes as well as modern food creations such as sisig on ube waffles, ube cloth, ice cream, donuts, pastries, macarons, ube-macapuno cake, ube pulvoron, ube pastillas and ube halaya, among others.

 

In response to a growing interest in the purple root sensation all over social media, the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt brought “ube” to Germany through the “Ube Fiesta in Germany.” The event showcased, for the first time in Germany, a variety of ube food creations Filipino-German cooks and bakers. The event also featured cultural presentations, tourism, agriculture and art exhibitions to celebrate the Philippine Independence this year.

 

The Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt organized the “Mamang Sorbetero” flashmob dance craze to pump up more than 2,000 fiesta-goers at the “Ube Fiesta in Germany” held on 4 June in Sankt Augustin, North Rhine Westphalia. The dance number were participated in by various Filipino community organizations who displayed the FIlipinos’ fun-loving nature and dancing prowess.
